Quarter Horse 6 years Sorrel 16 hands
This is one beautiful mare. Mishandled since her arrival in Nevada, Cayenne has very little faith in people. She has good reason to feel that way. When her former owners could not wear her down or catch her by depriving her of food and water, they finally decided to have a few beers, invite a few friends over, drive her in a pen and rope her. Trouble with that plan is that a terrified Cayenne fought them. The ropes were pulled tighter and tighter until Cayenne lost all air and collapsed to the ground. When she regained consciousness she had been haltered, hog-tied and the drunken men standing around her took turns rubbing and smacking the terrified mare. We could not leave her. These days she is seeking contact, approaching us willingly to be haltered and doing well with her ground work. She has been loaded in a trailer. She will be prepared for saddle work this fall if we believe she is ready. We can wait. We believe she is worth waiting for.
