Well.... It has come to our attention that perhaps Huckleberry Pie is not an Andalusian. I can accept that since I wasn't sure he was in the first place. I've certainly no claims to be an expert in different breeds. He certainly is beautiful. Is he an Andalusian cross? He came from a place in California that had Andalusian... Is he an Arab or Arab cross? Sigh... I haven't a clue. It has been recently suggested that he looks very much like a Crabbet Arabian.
It has also been suggested that he looks like a Shagya Arabian....
oh my.... The only thing I can say for certain is that whatever else he is, he is an exceptionally wonderful old gentleman with a kind eye and an even kinder heart. He is long winded and sure footed, calm and steady on the trail and an absolute joy to handle and to ride. Sigh... I love our Pie.
Here he is giving my beautiful sister-in-law a ride and a huge smile. He has that effect on people. He has that effect on my heart. I know that Smripe is in love with him too.
I heart The Pie :) He is one slice o'heaven...that's for sure! I still have no idea what he is...not a typical Arab, that's for sure. An Andalusian? I could be convinced quite easily :) All I know is that I adore him and am so happy he is part of The Huppie Syndicate :) :) :)

p.s. perhaps we should refer to him as an Andalarab? Arabusian? Actually...I think Unicorn is the perfect description. He is magical and ethereal and perfect :)

He shows a strong likelihood of being Arabian with a quarter or less of Andalusian, but it certainly adds to an already beautiful being.
The giveaway, to me, is the Andalusian neck. Shorter and heavier than the typical Arabian, but still, as it is on PREs, a very beautiful neck even in its shortness with the lovely taper to a refined throatlatch, common to both breeds.
My mare, Altea has the Andalusian head, and neck, but the rest of her body shows Arabian influence, including the tail set. She is of the same color as your horse as well.
Her daughter, also an AndalusianXArabian will be yet another of these with the best of both. She shows the concave face unlike her mother.

Oh my! Your horses are quite beautiful. Thank you for your input. It is possible that he is an Arab/Andalusian cross as I understood from the shipper that he came from an Andalusian ranch. Whatever he is, he is as my partner so beautifully puts it, 'magical and ethereal and perfect'.
And the good news is that now he is in 'Syndication'. =)
